Welcome to The Vale's blog!

Our First Post

Welcome to our venue and our first post. We are so happy to call The Vale our new home. We've had the pleasure of meeting many faces over the past 9 months and the Ascot Vale locals have graciously welcomed us into the community, where we endeavor to provide the best food and drink offering and experience to all who visit.

For those that haven't visited, we are a wine bar and restaurant located on Union Road in Ascot Vale, trading from Wednesday evening to Sunday night. We look to use local, fresh and seasonal ingredients in our kitchen, with as much as possible produced in house by our amazing kitchen team. Using almost every part of every ingredient, we aim to minimise waste in our preparation and cooking processes.

Our wine list, inspired by our travels of the globe and from across this fabulous wine producing country, features local plonk and fine libations from all over the world. Our cocktails are simple, yet elegant. Our beer and cider selection appeases all. All our drinks are considered and represent what we like to drink, and hope to be able to share with our guests.

A Little About Us

Kris is originally from Newcastle, England and has made Melbourne his home for the past 10 years. Since studying journalism, Kris has made hospitality his passion, working in and managing several bars, pubs and nightclubs across Melbourne. Kris enjoys staying up late watching The Toon play at St James' Park back home, whilst drinking a glass of Mornington Peninsula pinot noir, or a Newcastle Brown Ale if there's one around!

Anthony grew up in Adelaide, SA and has enjoyed living in Melbourne for the past 7 years. Whilst working in a CBD pub to fund travelling the world, he found a fondness for the hospitality industry. Gaining further industry experience in bars, clubs, restaurants and music festivals, his choice to continue down this path was made clear. Anthony would find it difficult to choose between a glass of shiraz from McLaren Vale, or a Four Pillars gin and tonic - would probably have both!

Collectively we have decades of hospitality experience to share with you our guests and our young and upcoming co-workers, all with the aim of providing an exceptional food and beverage experience within our venue.
